Umi is aware of her compelling mystical energy and yet she poses serenely in order to expand the curiousness that surrounds her. She holds the national flower of Japan called Sakura in her right hand. This flower symbolises good fortune, hope, a new life with new beginnings.
I used window mannequins for what they represent to me but brought them to life with photographs I took of ceilings of churches and palaces I visited in Genova along with her bow with painted birds. Her skirt was fully constructed in illustrator program and her hair is a piece of a head band I photographed from a Portuguese designer.
